Distractions…Focus?

Distractions, distractions, and more distractions…

Distractions...Focus? : FaceBook, Twiter, Instagram, Linkedin, Vimeo, Youtube, Pintrest, Google Plus | Joshua Wieczorek

When you saw the social icons what happened? In almost certainty, maybe only for a moment, you thought about something or someone on FaceBook; remembered a video on Youtube or Vimeo; visualized a tweet, or remembered your last tweet on Twitter; thought how awesome or beautiful that last picture was on Instagram; maybe thought is was nice for your colleague to endorse you on LinkedIn; or, what a an awesome Pin you found on Pinterest.

These are just a few social media examples of distractions. So many other distractions are out there crying for your attention: maybe your kids are screaming (maybe either literally or metaphorically) for your attention, your dog wants to go for a walk (Then actually, who is walking who?). But the point is, with the world as it is today, increasing technology, diverse lifestyles, long distance relationships (family and friends), we tend to live in a rat race, forgetting, or not taking the time to find out what is the true purpose of our existence.

What is the answer to that question? Simply, we are to be reflections of Messiah Yeshua, Jesus. We are to reflect everything He is in our lives. We are to display His love toward others bringing them to the saving knowledge of Him and showing them how they to can have a relationship with their creator. Remember, Christianity is truly and simply, a relationship with our maker and not some denomination, church or religion: it is a “personal but not private” (Pastor Larry Thompson, 2014), tho-way relationship with the creator of our spirit, body and soul.

Daily Steps

When we first get up, whether in the morning or whenever, we need to:

  • Turn our eyes on Jesus and seek Him (removing our focus from our daily lives and placing it on Him and His work.
  • Seek His direction for our daily lives.
  • Think of others instead of ourselves (praying for them removes our focus from ourselves to others).
  • Act upon His guidance, reflecting Him to our outside world.

Scriptures for the Day

“Furthermore, because of Christ, we have received an inheritance from God, for he chose us from the beginning, and all things happen just as he decided long ago.” (Ephesians 1: 11 NLT)

“And since we are his children, we will share his treasures–for everything God gives to his Son, Christ, is ours, too.” (Romans 8: 17 NLT)

“Go into all the world and preach the Good News to everyone, everywhere. Anyone who believes and is baptized will be saved. But anyone who refuses to believe will be condemned. These signs will accompany those who believe: They will cast out demons in my name, and they will speak new languages. They will be able to handle snakes with safety, and if they drink anything poisonous, it won’t hurt them. They will be able to place their hands on the sick and heal them.” (Mark 16: 15-18 NLT)

Conclusion

If we are joint heirs with Jesus, everything He was and is, is ours to attain. We have to seek His face and come undone from ourselves and let Him live through us. That is why it is called a relationship, everyday we learn something new about Him, and everyday He should do something different in our lives if we allow Him and recognize it.

Dear Father, I come to you undone. I ask that the all Precious and all Powerful Blood of Jesus wash me clean. I ask that You will allow me to be a vessel and temple to be used to bring You to a darkening world. Holy Spirit, always keep me on check, remind me when I need to return my focus to you and your plan an not my own. Use me to change the world around me for Your Glory. In the precious Name of Jesus, Amen (Be it so).
